Vehicle financing built for your business

Whether you're a sole proprietor replacing a work truck or an incorporated company adding to a fleet, vehicles can be financed or leased in the business's name. We place commercial applications with the lenders whose programs actually fit them — and tell you plainly what a newer business should expect to be asked for.

Who can finance in a business name

A sole proprietor and the business are legally the same person, so the application runs on your personal credit with your business income behind it — the most direct route for tradespeople, contractors, and owner-operators. An incorporated company applies in its own name; with two or more years of financial statements and a reasonable bank history, it gets the widest access to commercial programs.

A newer corporation isn't shut out — lenders simply bridge the missing track record with a personal guarantee from an owner. The company carries the loan, builds its own credit file with every payment, and the guarantee becomes negotiable once the business has history of its own.

    02

    How commercial approval works

Lenders weigh time in business, business bank activity, existing debt, and — where a guarantee is involved — the guarantor's personal credit. The vehicle matters too: a work truck or cargo van for a trade reads as revenue equipment, which commercial programs are built for.

Our job is placement: matching your application to the lenders running genuine commercial programs rather than letting a consumer-lending desk misread a business file. That includes structuring for more than one vehicle — staggered additions to a small fleet are routine, and each clean payment strengthens the file for the next approval.

    03

The tax angles — raise these with your accountant

Business vehicles carry real tax machinery: interest on a loan may be deductible, lease payments may be deductible, capital cost allowance lets a purchased vehicle depreciate against income, and HST registrants may recover input tax credits on the purchase or payments. Limits and eligibility depend on the vehicle's class, its price, and its actual business use.

We'll structure the deal either way — purchase or lease, personal or corporate name — but we're your dealership, not your accountant. Bring your accountant the structure before signing; ten minutes of their time routinely changes which option is cheapest after tax.

    04

    Straight answers for business buyers

A young business should expect a personal guarantee and slightly firmer pricing than an established company — that's the market, not a judgement. Rates and terms follow the strength of the file: time in business, cash flow, and the guarantor's credit all move the number.

If the business is new and the guarantee lands on a personal file that's still rebuilding, we'll say so and route the application accordingly — our credit-situation lenders work for business guarantors too. Every clean month of payments builds both files at once.

    The process

    Three steps, one agent

    1Tell us your situation

Complete the short pre-qualification form or call us. One application — we place it deliberately with the lenders most likely to say yes, instead of blasting it everywhere and stacking hard inquiries.

    2Review real options

Your agent comes back with the offers our lender network actually returned — term, rate, and any fees on one page. No markup on the lender's rate, no pressure, and you can compare against your own bank's approval.

    3Choose your vehicle and drive

Pick from our inspected inventory or have us source the right vehicle from anywhere in Canada within your approved budget. Pick up in Ottawa or Langley, or have it delivered.

    Checklist

    What to have ready

A complete file gets a faster, better-placed answer. Nothing here is a dealbreaker — bring what you have and your agent will sort out the rest.

    Start your application
    • Business registration or articles of incorporation
    • Three to six months of business bank statements
    • Most recent business financials or CRA Notice of Assessment
    • Driver's licence and proof of income for any personal guarantor
    • HST number, if registered
    • Void business cheque or pre-authorized debit form for payments
    FAQ

    Common questions

Can a new business get vehicle financing?

Usually, yes — with a personal guarantee from an owner bridging the missing track record. The company still carries the loan and builds its own credit history with every payment, which is what eventually makes the guarantee unnecessary.

What does a personal guarantee actually mean?

You personally promise to repay if the business can't, and your personal credit is underwritten alongside the company's. It's standard for younger businesses; as the company builds financial history, future borrowing can shift onto the business's own strength.

I'm a sole proprietor — how does it work for me?

You and the business are the same legal person, so the loan runs on your personal credit with your business income supporting it. Bring your CRA Notice of Assessment and bank statements — self-employed income is routine for the lenders we place these files with.

Can I write off the payments?

Potentially — loan interest, lease payments, capital cost allowance, and HST input tax credits can all apply to business-use vehicles, within limits set by the vehicle's class, price, and business-use percentage. Confirm the treatment with your accountant before you pick a structure; it often decides purchase versus lease.

Can you finance more than one vehicle?

Yes. Small fleets are built vehicle by vehicle — each clean payment history makes the next approval easier and better priced. Tell your agent the growth plan up front and we'll structure the first deal with the next ones in mind.
